When do I need to replace my green card?

Having up-to-date and valid information on one’s Permanent Resident Alien ID, or green card, is crucial to living in the United States as a foreign national or legal alien. Because of this, one’s green card must be replaced as soon as possible under certain circumstances. These circumstances include:

  • If it was issued before the age of 14, the green card must be replaced on one’s 14th birthday (unless the card states otherwise).
  • If the green card is lost, stolen, damaged, or is otherwise not functional.
  • Information on the card is incorrect.

These are only some of the reasons that it may be necessary to replace a green card, so if you are unsure about the need to do so in your case, we can help. Contact an Austin immigration lawyer at the Law Office of William Jang, PLLC, by calling 512-323-2333 today.
