U.S. and Mexico in talks about new deportation process

Posted on May 29th, 2012 No Comments

The United States and Mexico are working out a new deportation plan that they hope will curb repeated illegal crossings and border violence by deporting illegal immigrants deep into Mexico.

The government usually flies the deportees to the Arizona- or Texas-Mexico borders and releases them at Mexican ports of entry. Last fiscal year, the United States spent $120.9 million to fly 182,655 illegal immigrants to the Mexican border, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Critics of the new plan argue that it is a waste of taxpayer money and that more domestic efforts are needed for it to be effective. The status on approving the plan was not released.
