Major demonstrations expected for May Day

Posted on May 1st, 2012 No Comments

Cities across the country are gearing up for major demonstrations today for International Workers Day, or May Day, today. May Day has typically generated protests from workers’ rights advocates and immigration reform activists.

Immigration protests in Los Angeles on May Day have drawn tens of thousands of people in the past, and protestors this year are promising the shut down the city. The LAPD has said their force is at maximum deployment for today as an immigration march and labor protests are planned.

In New York, protestors are urging people to skip work and join in on marches throughout Manhattan and Union Square. Seattle, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C. expect large demonstrations.
