Immigration bill passed by Texas Senate

Posted on June 17th, 2011 No Comments

Governor Rick Perry was behind an immigration bill that was passed Wednesday morning by the Texas Senate. This new bill will forbid sanctuary cities across the state of Texas.

The measure will enable law officers to ask individuals who are legally detained or arrested about their immigration status.  Numerous people against the passing of this bill believe that it will cause racism and stop witnesses of crimes from coming forward with information.

Supporters of this bill think that it will help keep citizens in the state of Texas safer. Less illegal criminals and members of notorious gangs will choose Texas as a state they can take refuge in.
