Posted on March 9th, 2011 No Comments

A conference between Austin Community College and St. Edward’s University was held on March 4 and the topics on the table were the recent immigration issues in the state. The conference was held at ACC’s Highland Business Center and this was the fourth annual conference on “Immigration Education and Our Future.”

The title of this conference was called “The Dream and its Cost” and will discuss the Education for Alien Minors Act that would have given immigrant children, who were brought the the country illegally, legal status if they were enrolled in college or the military.

This act, the DREAM Act, was rejected by the Senate in December 2010. Police Chief Art Acevado and many other people spoke about the topic including professors and the former chief of staff for Texas Rep., Rick Noriega.

If you or a loved one has been looking to become a citizen in the U.S., this can be a very complicated process. Contact the Austin immigration attorneys of William Jang, PLC, by calling 512-323-2333 to discuss your options.
