Austin events focus on immigration debate

On the University of Texas Campus and HBO special called The Fence will premiere at 6:30 at the LBJ Library auditorium. The documentary will focus on the barrier between Mexico and the United States.

After the documentary plays, a panel will discuss the film, including Rory Kennedy, the film’s director/producer who is Robert Kennedy’s youngest child.

Another program that will be opening is the ArteAmericas, which is a photographic exhibition that features photos of Latin American immigrants that who have traveled the dangerous journey from Mexico’s southern border to the Rio Grande in order to find a better working opportunity. This journey is nicknamed “The Beast” and “Death Train” because it is torturous.
