Immigration enforcement may prevent deportations from occurring in El Paso

Posted on September 9th, 2010 No Comments

Immigration enforcement officials in El Paso have announced that they will be putting a halt on deportations as a part of a new plan.

This new plan will cancel the deportations of the thousands of detainees who are currently being held. This new policy will allow officials to focus on illegal immigrants that are putting citizens at risk by being a threat to the community.

The director of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement said that they have released the detainees that do not have legal status but who currently have active applications. Nearly 17,000 cases will be canceled because of the new policy.
