Business Visitor Visas

If you need to travel to the United States for business purposes, you may qualify for a business visitor (B-1) visa. This visa is for business and academic professionals whose travel plans may include attendance at a convention or conference, consultation with business associates, contract negotiation, or other similar purposes.

If you or someone you know needs assistance obtaining a business visitor visa or has faced complications with other visa matters, the Austin visa lawyers at the Law Offices of William Jang, PLLC, can provide legal support and assistance. To speak with an attorney, contact our offices at 512-323-2333.

Qualifying for a Business Visitor Visa

To qualify for a B-1 visa, you must show that:

  • You plan to remain in the U.S. for a specific time period
  • You maintain a residence and binding ties outside the U.S.
  • You hold adequate financial resources for your planned trip
  • Your trip, although business-based, does not involve local employment

Visitors who qualify for a B-1 visa are admitted for a fair and reasonable amount of time as determined by an official at the U.S. port of entry. Visitors are usually approved for stays of less than 6 months, but this period may be extended to one year. Professionals may not receive a salary, but are allowed reimbursement for expenses.
